    EK1 screwback opinions

Hi everyone, recently bought this from a reputable UK dealers website. I have read the wonderful article on Floch fakes, but must admit got a wee bit confused as to whether all ek1 or similar crosses or just Floch fakes of the clamshell variety are missing their anti rotational "spike". Hence my question. The frame itself is silver and shiny, where I read the Flochs are dull in colour. What do you think?

    kind regards John

            Ek1 sb

I have to concur with the others; this cross is a reproduction. This design is showing up on many a dealer's site this past year. I know of 4 dealers in the usa who have displayed this type of ek1...

                  Hi John
Yes your cross is a fake known as a "Floch". It is obvius to me that the cross has been cleaned, but soap and water can not wash away hard evidence such as the low 1939 date and the special rib pattern close to the swastika. You should have your money returned. This cross was not manufactured before 8 of May 1945.

Thats bad, I always thought that Regimentals was a site to trust. Never thought I'd see any crap turn up off there. I hope is was a genuine mistake and you get a no fuss refund!

I bet I've seen Floch items on almost all major dealers site at one point or another. It's not usually so much that they are there (everyone has let at least one slip in by mistake), it's what they do when notified of such a "mistake" that counts. If they raise a fuss or re-list upon return ... time to delete that link to dealers you buy from.

Very good points you raise there about what the dealers do with the item when you return it.

It's strage to see dealers with squeeky clean websites but then seeing the off loading rubbish at arms fairs. It's all about what they can get away with i suppose!

Thanks for the input here. Very dissapointing to read your comment about the prior notification.
I think Darrell has hit this one on the head, could be a genuine mistake but its how they now react, since I have sent them a respectful email, pointing out this fake.
Its really good to have a community like this, where the collectors back each other up. Really appreciate it. I will post when I recieve an answer from the seller.

                              regards John
