    EK1 mm 26 information wanted?

    Hello all!

There has been a lot of writing lately about the EK1 mm26 and the different pin types on it.. Now i would like to know, how can you and can you know which cross is from the Russian Hoard founding and which is not...?? And this becouse if the most of the cross made by 26 were exactly made with this common pintype which exists also in the ones found from Russian Hoard .

    Regards Erno

    Hello
crosses from Russian hoard are cased, in mint condition, with standard pin, frosted finish. Beautiful......

Although this cross has a near mint condition it is not from the Russian hoard; the pin assembly is from more toward the end of the war.

I think it's the other way around, robert.
Mayer used this pin on their ww1 ek's as well, so it's the early pin

Thank you, Ben. There was just a thread discussing the dateline of these pin assemblies, and I walked away thinking it was a latewar pin system. I'm glad you straightened this out for me.

Edit: Here's that thread dating the pin system on mine as latewar...

...We're all entitled to our opinions. Not to dispute your word, Ben, but it would do me good to see an Imperial Mayer PB for myself. I've searched the archives and came up wanting. Do you have a photo of one, please?

I wish I had saved the pics, but sorry, I didn't....

But indeed, everybody can have his opinion, so it's no big deal anyway.

                  I trust you Ben,

If you say Mayer used this pin system in the their 1914's, then I believe you. I don't spend time in the Imperial forum, so I never saw one. That will be something else to add to my collection...

                      Thank you Michael,

This certainly is food for thought. I feel like a tennis ball, being hit from one court to another.

Yeah, me too. I'm not sure what to think, although I lean towards believing that the thinner, swollen pin (shown) is the latest one. I am very open to being convinced otherwise, though.

One final note, which is the least convincing as evidence, is that my example of this cross, which looked just like Robert's shown above, came in an obviously late-war case marked for B.H. Mayer exactly like this one (now Jim's):

                        Best regards,
