    Cased WW2 EK2 - Opinions please

    Hello Gentlemen,

This is one of only three cased crosses in my collection. I would like your opinions on this cased set. It would seem to be a high quality piece in excellent condition for its age. The push pin and hinge are of a steel material. The lower interior is a crushed velvet material in a deep maroon color and the top is an off white silk type material.

The EK2 itself is an unmarked cross also in similar excellent condition matching its box.

A photo of it's winner accompanied this cased medal. It was held in place by the red ribbon which crosses the upper inside lid.

A Winter Service medal was also in this small grouping!

    Many thanks & Happy Holidays,
    Vince Leone

    Hello
the set is nice, cross in an unmarked Fritz Zimmermann but the case in my opinion is nice but was not produced during the WW2

      Hello,
Are you thinking it may be a WW1 era case?
      Thanks,
      Vince

I think post 1945 but it 's better to wait for opinion of other members and experts.

          Ek2 case

IMHO, this is a case made late 1920 or early 1930s for a WW1 EK2. The red color velvet as well as the ribbon strap of the same color in the upper portion of the case match others from the period I have encountered. I do believe it is possible such cases were used by some Wehrmacht awardees for their awards and thus were privately purchased; but that said I do not believe this case to be original to the cross; i.e. actually provided with the award during issuance of the award or purchased from an LDO outlet with the cross.
