Theres a guy who used to go every time to the pomona show that made medals groups, and he still does shows looking for original single medals , and rebacks or remakes any medal bar.

He even makes whatever anybody wants to order, even the repro metalic parts from scratch, and its unusual that neither one of these seem to have any honest wear or age to the mounts, backs or ribbons. (first pin looks older)

Nice medals, but is it possible the tabs are boogered in #6 because someone has re ribboned it at one time?

Just thought i felt worth mention .... as items left alone , never have any tool marks that crude from the factory.... as all items are to pass inspection for quality control prior to disbursement.

Even if marks were made over 60 years ago, the marks would be oxidized by now, and the aluminum scratched parts presently would not appear bright.

The first one appears like it was just made yesterday, and never ever worn....I have minty stuff, but it all still look its age. Id love to have one like these, but one that looks more in tune with its age. (over 64 years old)

Here's my mounted Schinkel, a Meybauer. Since this mount is so easily transferred between crosses, all I can really say about this one is, "I bought it this way." Who knows how long it's been this way? I love this piece and find it has a lot of character, that may not really show with my photos.

                    Best regards,
                    Streptile

I cant agree because I got one EK2 not long ago that is defently untouched and is not re-ribboned, just that it was made this way...

There is a forum member who does nice work for those who want reproduction mounts. He states right up front that his pieces are his own work, and that they are not original mounts. Everything but the ribbon and pendant/cross is made by him. The only problem I see is when these pieces fall into the hands of those who know nothing of him and his work, and assume they are originals.
