    EK2 #113 wide flange?

    Hi Friends

One of my recent purchases is this EK with extremely wide frame
flanges. Its overall size is the same as a standard EK2. I've owned
a few with wide flanges but this one is way different. It is a three
piece type with magnetic center. Anyone have or have had a Hermann
Aurich cross like this strange piece?

    Thanks for any help.
    Regards
    Ken

I have two "113" EK 2s. Neither has a flange that wide, but one of them has a crooked frame.

      EK2 "113"

      Hi Kecon!

I also have 2 EK2's maker marked 113. They do not have a wide flange. They almost look slightly smaller than traditional wide frame crosses like 100 marked ones. Mine looks similar to George's cross.

Thanks, George and Wilhelm for your replies.

I suspect this is a new type repro. Just when I thought I was getting
good at spotting all the fake EK's, this bugger comes along. I'll be looking
a lot closer at frames and such from now on.

        Best regards
        Ken

          Maker mark

          Kecon,

Can you post a picture of the maker mark? Are you positive it is 113? I also have had several 113s and none were of the wide flange variety.

Sorry, Jerry, I just can't get a clear close-up with my junk camera.
But to answer your question. Yes, its a #113. I'm convinced it's a
fake. I think I've spotted a couple others with different maker #'s
on a couple of web sites. Probably a new repro just hitting the market.
Keep your eyes open for this wide flange dude. I know your a big EK
guy, so let us know if you spot one of these.

            Best regards

              Ken,

I am not a camera whiz either, I hate being unable to get good quality pics. I am bummed to hear you think the cross is fake for sure. I thought maybe you misread the maker mark - I have on several occassions misidentified a few marks when they were not struck clearly. I hope you are able to get your money back.

My fealings about this cross is that it is a fake. Of cource I can't prove that.
I can't get a refund on this one but thankfully I did'nt pay a lot for it . If it
is a fake then this ageing student has just learned another valuable lesson.
And so my schooling continues. Unfortunately, I will never graduate. But
then, none of us ever will. Right?

                Best regards

                  Kecon,
I have one with a wide flange like that. But I think the number is only two digits...I'll have to check.
It is a junk one I bought ages ago and have never liked it because of that strange looking wide flange. I have no doubt that it is real and I paid next to nothing for it (was an 'throw in' impulse purchase when I bought something else from the dealer) and the condition is terrible--almost dug. I've also had it for many years.
So I believe yours is not something new, but something odd. That is if you're talking about a wide flange in general and not just from that certain maker. I am not a medal collector so I don't know whether this topic is about any cross with the wide flange or just a certain maker #113. Are they found from other makers? Please forgive my ignorance if I am mistaken.

                  S~

"Are they found from other makers?"

"24"-marked EK 2s are known for wide flanges.
