    Which maker is this EK2

I thought this was marked "20" but I must have been on drugs

On closer inspection it appears to be "40", can others confirm that the drugs have left my system

    the next question is

The packet I got it with is marked Jacob Bengal, Oberstein which according to Gordon's book is maker 44 ???
Does this mean this packet doesnt belong to this cross ?

        & a family shot

        Of my meager Ek collection....

Also if it is a "40" then it belongs to Berg & Nolte, Ludenscheid - right ??

A possible idea to get a better image

I could see how you would think that that # looks like a 20. However after closer inspection of your 3rd picture I would say that the first # is a 4.

I have personally taken photos in other areas of my life (non militaria) scanned them into my computer and then applied a negative filter/ or sometimes some sort of elevation filter to the photo to see where the real shading lies in the image. This has helped determine the true images in less than accurate photos/ or even in real life when it was hard to see what I was really looking at. While I have never personally done this to any of my militaria items I don't see why it wouldnt work. The last time I used this program was about a year and a half ago, and for the life of me I can't remember what the program was called. But I would imagine that any good photo software would allow you access to at least most of these tools.

I think I will head to the computer store tonight and get some new software for this very purpose. I never considered inspecting my militaria like this, so I guess thanks is in order.

I too am anxious to see if it will reveal anything my naked eye and a jewelers loupe didn't pick out before.

            Cheers.

                Nice pic of MM

Unmistakable there. Now that I went back to your original photos I can't see 20 mark I thought I once saw . Almost like an optical illusion or something. My brain was trying to make sense of it when the answer was right there in front of it. Kind of like on of those 3D pictures where you may see the image for only a few seconds and then not be able to see it again. In this last pic the 40 is VERY VISABLE.

                Cheers.

This photo is not mine. Posted it as a sample on a 40 mark.
Try a flatbed scanner. If you know how to handle it, you will get fine and sharp photos.
Remeber to not compress the jpg image to hard.

People here who use cameras use 4-5 mega pixels cameras mounted on tripods.
