    Ek 1

Here is an EK1 my friends brought me from France. Unfortunatly I am certain this it a good example of a one piece fake. The problems as I see it are that I see no seam indicating the required 3 piece construction. It is also not magnetic. The numbers and swaz are very shallow. The numbers are too thin as well. The shape of the pin seems wrong as well. There is probably loads more that I didn't see. Oh well, they didn't have to buy it it was given to them, and it was certainly nice of them to think of me!

Indeed you are right about the orginality of the EK. However, your friends thought enough of you to bring it back because they knew of your intrests in this hobby. It's the thought that counts!

Looks like the type of fake that comes out of Poland.

            Hi Chet,
I agree with you whole heartedly, the thought was so nice. They are not collectors so they had no way of determining originality. This was the first time my limited knowledge that I have gained on these forums has been a curse. They were so excited to give it to me and I recognized pretty quick that it was not real. I felt really bad to tell them the truth about it but they started looking through my books and I just had to tell at that point! Really good friends! They also brought me a 1 mark note with the swaz on it very small that they found from a guy in, of all places, Nepal! I really like that for my money collection.

              fun fake

this a different one - a bit better quality than Sal's cross
I believe its made of 57 frame with iron core from EK2 cant make better pics right now - on sides you can see traces of opening (you can see this also at the front - bottom part of frame)
              at the back inscription: theaterkunst

I always wanted to open this one and see the back of core
Ps i got this one many years ago as a genuine piece (thank's God wasn't expensive)... now its here as a "old times" souvenir
