You won't be able to find another one of these, not in this setup.
It's a Deumer-Schinkel with Meybauer backplate and screw.
    Not an original set-up

Wasn't that Meybauer screw used on WW1 EK's?
I'd give my right arm to be ambidextrous.....

Yes, but you can find it on some early 39 meybauer ek's as well
        (Schinkel and regular)

            I agree -- a put-together.

Sorry ben, but your shown cross is not a schinkel typ!
Isn't it ? Anyway I discused it with an EK1 expert and he said:
"Cross front is not deumer and rear is meybauer!
This cross is in his opinion original, but the winding of the screw is a little bit to short. The name of the frontside supplier will be present in his new EK1 Book planned 2010

I don't recall stating it was a schinkel, did I??
I statred that this set-up could e found on early meybauer schinkels and on regular ek's.

Well, we'll see what Franki makes of it, but your cross is no Meybauer.

                  Stefan :
That is a nice Zimmermann Schinkel .... and that type of back I am not familiar with and go along with Maybauer .

                  Ben :
Your cross is more complex and interesting ; ... with what looks like a different style but still a Maybauer disk set up . The frame is a textbook regular S&L 1st die ! The core is not from S&L and looks a very close to my Maybauer core , .. the only thing I am not 100% sure of .

This is how it IMO should look like on a "Maybauer" Schinkel.

That's a new one to me, Douglas. How can you tell it's a Zimmermann?

Also, Luud: very nice cross... well, the backside of it anyway

Features of the engraving template - identifyable on the inside corners - which were done by the engraver - that shows up as the ' radial corner spikes '. This shows up on all Zimmermann dies . Not to be confused with the K&Q type which have the same idea but are exicuted differently .
The picture shows this feature >...

Now here is the Schinkel with the same Zimmermann corner feature .

                            Hmm.

Yes, I see that both crosses have the same diagonal beads in the corners. But we do know that the same engraver often engraved dies for different companies (Schickle and Meybauer EK1 Spangen, W&L and Juncker EK frames, to name but two), so stating Zimmerman is the maker of this Schinkel based on a single similarity of the die to a Zimmerman EK seems a stretch to me. Plus, Deumer Imperial frames (and thus Deumer Schinkels) have the same feature.

I'm not saying it necessarily is not a Zimmermann. I'm just saying that, in my opinion, there isn't enough evidence to reach that conclusion.

In any case, are there any known Zimmermann Imperial EKs?
                            Best regards,

Very nice cross Ben! I love Meybauers and hope to one day find an example like yours, it is an interesting mix!
