I had a good look at the 3 crosses posted . Robert's cross is the only one that is marked 109 . Rare to find one marked . S&L sold frames to alot of small makers . All the crosses shown have 100% S&L frames and cores . They are not all from the same die and have different stages of die wear and different levels of hand finishing .
The parts break down to the following S&L dies :
      Trevor's : S&L 3rd frame - 3rd core
      Josef's : S&L 3rd frame - 2nd core
      Robert's : S&L 3rd frame - 2nd core
Sequence of manufacturing would guess to be starting with Roberts next Josef's and then Trevor's cross .

        Douglas,

I assume you are referring to my packet being marked. The ribbon ring is not. I think you're thinking of a 3-flaw Juncker that has '09' stamped on the ring. I remember us discussing this, and thinking it might have been a '109' stamp...

That is correct .... it was the ribbon ring on that Juncker that was marked with that incomplete number 109 . A mixup of mine .
From the crosses shown W&H seamingly obtained S&L parts over a considerable time period . They could have gotten parts from other makers too , no sure way of knowing .
