1957 Awards

Hello, this is my first time on this site and I have two opening questions. Firstly, I am interested in '1957' Third Reich medals and am particularly interested in purchasing early examples of these. Appart from Detlev's site is there any other site that sells these items? (Alternatively - does anyone have an early RK they wish to sell?)
Secondly, are the 1957 EK's made in the same way as the 1939-45 crosses i.e. in 3 parts, I realise that different materials are used but am more interested in if they are manufactured the same way.

Hi Ian,

To answer the second part of your question, yes the 1957 EKs were manufactured the same way as their earlier counterparts, i.e., three-piece construction.

I recommend that you pick up a copy of Gordon Williamson's newer book of Iron Crosses. He has a nice section on the '57 version, including the Knight's Cross.
