When a soldier was awarded an ek2 did he wear the ribbon from his medal in the button hole of his uniform or did he get another ribbon with it so he could keep his medal intact. Thank you Ron.

Usually he cut the original ribbon that came with his cross in half to sew to his tunic's button hole. But, there are issued ribbons that came in their own titled packets as well.
