Consensus is that it is a fake.

Maker's mark for one is wrong.

ek2 spange case/box

It looks like there is a silver lining to having a bad spange because the case is a tough find and 100x harder to find then an original spange!

Took me a long time to find that style ek2 spange case. When I did find one it has a L/11 mark on the bottom with a beautiful frosty matching L/11 spange. Take a look on the bottom of the box for any L/ marks sometimes they have them.

You may want to start a thread on the cases and packets forum for the box. I have seen them with a burgundy color lining , hard to tell what may be in that one.

If it checks out you still did very well on that little box IMO!

no stamps on the bottom of the box and the inside has a nice dark blue velvet bottom. Have had quite of lot of interest to buy the box. Thanks for the offer guys but I'll keep the box and put a proper spange in it.
