    I have seen it also with several Zimmermann. It can't be form casting, since the wreath was stamped, not cast. It is most likely a result of the stamping forces.

        The backplate was mode of Cupal instead of Tombak.

              those holes result from the metal of the wreath being stretched too thin in the stamping process causing small tears in the weaker points, nothing to worry about
