    L/58 Iron Cross First Class

Hello everyone, My search of threads failed, but

    I thought I saw a thread way back on the L/58 v. L58 Iron Cross 1st Class
by R. Souval. (XXXXlaser & XXXXohn).

Can someone inform me if the cross with a screw back was also made with a zinc center instead of Iron?

    Regards,
    CJ

L58 is the LDO number for Souval.

        Hi CJ

I did some digging and found this informative thread over at GD.com on exactly this same subject. There are also some pictures there to compare to.

Thank again Mark - I keep forgetting that I belong to both and that's where I read it. Must be that the WCA is my favorite site with the GD and a very close second.

My first class matches Calvin Hall's to the letter, however the center is made of zinc.

          Regards,

            souval, real versus fake

            Hello,

I have read on the other article +> see reference by M.Schroeder that there is a difference in the catch oth original versus fake R.Souval pieces.

Is there anyone who can show us the difference between these 2 kind of catches ? , i have seen recently a EK 1 ( non maker marked ) with exactly the same cross arm appearance as the one shown here , so im no expert on this matter but it seems interesting to know if the cross was a fake versus real one , the cross i mention had the veins under the black that can be seen many times on ek's.

              L58 EK1

              CJ,

I had never checked my L58 before, but the center is made of iron.

Interesting to find one with a zinc center.

BTW, I purchased a nice cased 'L59' screwback EK1 over the weekend. In addition to the maker mark, this cross also features a small square stamped into the reverse.

I will post a few photos in a day or two.
