I have an iron cross 2nd class mm65 , is it normal that the metal piece in the center of the cross rattles?

Many crosses I own have cores that rattle. This is perfectly normal for both 1914 and 1939 EK2s. Five of my 13 EK2s have cores that rattle - two 1939s (unmarked S&L/unmarked W&L), and three 1914s (unmarked/"KO"/"LW"). One core is really loose (with frames completely intact), the other 4 cores have varying degrees of looseness.
