Rich, the ribbon is a very nice worn example. Of course it's impossible to guess if it it original to the cross. And you are right, it's likely impossible to find the proper loop for this. Even if I did, it would still be a replacement, not original to the cross.

Are you 100% on that? From the pic it looks to be a post-war ribbon maybe from the '57 era.

If you can, post a close-up of the ribbon edge, especially the edge that is to the top.

Richard, you have a very good eye. I had not looked at the ribbon closely, but you are correct. It is 42mm wide and has a smooth edge. It is also lighter material. It does however show some wear, so it is likely a 57 ribbon that has been worn.
It is too dark now for additional photographs, but here is an enlargement of the one I took yesterday. I can take some additional ones in the morning if required.

Searching for a better ribbon and loop for this RK will be a trick, but that is part of the hobby. I think it is one of the nicest I've ever seen.
