    Have I Been Floched? EK1

After doing some research here and else where, this EK1 which I thought had high hopes looks to have been made by Floch. Can other members confirm my suspitions? The kiss of death was the L73 mark along with other simularities to his work. Research told me L73 may be an unknown hallmark till I read the Floch thread here. 3 piece construction, magnetic core

This came in a small group of medals and badges from a lady whose Father collected militaria. Some were good, some were fakes and a few I was not sure of. Any opinions bad or good are welcome.

If this is a Floch badge, what is a fair market value for it as I do not intend to keep it if it is.

    Thanks!

    Steve

Looks like I am $8.00 in the hole then on this one. Thought maybe a re-enactor would be interested in something like these!

      Many thanks

I'll buy it for $10 if you're serious about selling it.

Thanks! I hate to lose money on anything regardless of what it may be. Looks like there is some interest in it even as a Floch.

I just don't like seeing these things get back in circulation. Do us a favour and stick it in a drawer and be thankful you're only out a few bucks. Next thing it's back out there and a new collector is out $300. It can happen.

Yes Wayne,I have been Floched by Grandma. I may have to seek professional help concerning that!

Again my thanks to everyones opinion. You have given me points to ponder. I have seen first hand items sold as repros and sometime later see them again for sale as "original" items. Many sellers on internet auction sites are guilty of this practice and the un-suspecting fall for it hook, line and sinker. Research and knowledge are the keys to prevent this and that is why I joined this forum. I turned away from collecting TR items in the early 80's because the repros were becoming to well made and like minded collectors few and far between where I lived. I did meet a collector by the name of Bob Rideout who was able to educate me to some degree.

On the other hand, we have the re-enactor who would be in danger of destroying an original medal or badge during a re-enacment. The collector who wants to fill a hole in thier collection till an original is found or one who wants a well made repo so that they can compare it to an original and learn the differances. I have a number of repo USAF patches that I have picked up for this purpose. IMO repos have a place in the collecting field. The down side is there is and always will be some one out there who will take advantage of the beginning collector. Sad to say but that is human nature.

Perhaps I can have this marked on the back by a professional engaver with a simple "repo" under the pin in small but easily seen letters. This method has been talked about in other forums but seems to generate as much debate as the well made repos themselves. I am open for thoughts on this.

I would mark it "repro" on the back side. That way, if you do want to get rid of it, it'll be harder for someone to try to pass it off as original.
