Information on Grossmann & Co - Wien

    Hi Guys,

Does any one have any information on a maker by the name of Grossmann & Co from Wien. Thier Lieferant Number was 11

I am interested in what they specialised in and how rare thier pieces are.

I think I once saw an EK1 marked with 11

    Thanks

Yes, Grossmann & Co. made EKII's, ring-marked '11'. I'm not aware of them producing EKI's during the war....?

Stefan and George have '11'-marked EKI's. I'll try and find the thread. Stefan's is a Deumer.

Yes they made KvKs with and without swords starting in 1939 . 95% of all ring marked with 11 are the plain numbers stamped deep into the ring ! The first few months they struggeled with a very difficult and shallow 'raised' 11 on the ring which was replaced soon with the other one . This 1st number type on early solid tombak KVKs is easily missed as they show up only as 2 raised lines . There are no 'upstroke slashes' on the ones - making them just look like 'tooling' marks .

Iron crosses 2ãî a class with marks «11» on a ring, let out in 1942-1945 ãã by request of Ordenskanzlei for official rewardings, are very rare. One variant with a framework from íåéçèëüáåðà and an iron core is known only.
The manufacturer of these is the firm «Ferdinand Hoffstatter, Bonn».
For what reason the firm management "has passed" the state order for manufacturing ÅÊ2 through the (since November, 1938) branch «Grossmann and Co, Inh. Lorenz Hofstatter und Lothar Siefener, Wien» having put the marks «11» received by firm «Grossmann and Co, Nachf. Schuller and Co, Wien» even before loss to it independence, instead of having put the «8», most likely we never learn.

          Throwing in the towel....

Mine is likely a Deumer too.

There is apparently an established relationship between Grossmann and Deumer that makes some experienced collectors believe that these '11' marked EK1s are actually Grossmann pieces.

The discussion I read was on the GCA forum and can be found here.
            Best regards,
