    Rk

Dave, I remember thinking that this was one of the few RKs I've examined that did not exhibit any flawing to the beading. I don't think there is any at 6 or 3 o'clock.

I sure don't doubt your word but I hope some computer literate fellow jumps in and 'clears up' the photo! I looked and looked and when I was finished looking I looked again!!!

I really began to think I was seeing things...

Craig and I were in negotiations for the set several weeks ago but we couldn't get together nor did I have a chance to view the cross in person...but the more I look at it (via computer) the more concerns I have!

        Dave,

Do you think that light line on the six o'clock arm is a flaw? A similar line is on the top of the twelve o'clock arm, and on the beading on the upper and lower sides of the right and left arms. It can't all be flaws....

These are no flaws IMHO. This is reflection.

That's what is so frustrating! I can't tell what it is for sure and didn't get a chance to view it in person!

I wish we could get just a straight on shot of it similar to the reverse...which is very sharp in the beading!

Someone will do computer magic I'm sure!

It would seem that Erich did, and under a loupe no less. He said there was no flaw. This should answer your question.

believe me, at this point, more than a few of us can sympathize with the banging head icon.

As with most photos you see what you want to see.

Dave, since you haven't seen the cross in-hand, take Erich's word for it. Or take Steve Wolfe's. Or take Jason's. Or mine for that matter. I do know that many people claim that so-and-so have seen such-and-such an item. However, I think you know that I do have access to these gentlemen, and am in a position that I would NEVER use their names unless they had seen an item. I have all of their home numbers, and they have mine. They are all my friends and professional associates, and I would feel it to be a very bad thing for my relationship with them were I to misrepresent a cross as having been seen when it had not. I do agree, though "so and so has seen this" is not a good thing to base a purchase on as a rule of thumb, but one must consider who makes the claim. Anyway, the cross is sold as of this morning. I had two people attempt to buy it, and the new owner now has a killer cross with no flaws, universally accepted, at a very good price. I actually will miss this piece, and will be searching for another one to replace it. And, believe it or not, I haven't checked the magnatism yet. However, I will, Dave, before it leaves the building - it's a promise. Finally, I use the word "stove-piping" to refer to the dull-black finish one finds on some of the ultra-high-end crosses sometimes. It looks sort of like parkerizing that you'd find on a gun.

That flat black finish that K & Q uses on their crosses is actually a more of a manufacturing trait, particular to this maker. It is found on all their 1st and 2nd class crosses as well.
