    Do I clean my EK

Merry Christmas and thank you for all your help in the past weeks.
I am new to collecting and bought my first EK2 with "round three" and ribbon from Detlev.

My Question is: I know you don't polish antique coins, but do you polsih or clean EKs. I want to keep my piece's value and care for it properly. Right now I have it stored in archival tissue paper. (My wife's a Canadian Art historian) so I have archival tissue paper coming out the whazoo. I did the the same with my NSDAP flag. PS Can I store it with one of those tiny anti-humidy bags you often get when you buy electronics?

    Happy Holidays

I would not clean it. (And your proposed storage method sounds very good.)

I have to agree with George on this one. Best not to muck with it. Happy Holidays! Mike

              No WAY

...would I EVER clean off this "patina"...

It's one of the best things about the cross. That's some mighty desirable "dirt and dust" as far as I'm concerned. To me it says "I was there".

              Leave yours alone.

I agree with George. Your presence does seem to have a positive affect on things, mate..

Ps. I have the same opinion regarding patina.

Hi Ralph, great looking EKII and I think that looks like a first pattern Spange to the EKII, or not?

                      Merry Christmas to all,

I think cleaning them would remove some of it's "history" as it has taken quite a while to build up the patina. Some of that "dirt" was put tyhere by the oil from the original owner.

                          Merry Christmas to all.
