    EK2- opinions please!

    My secretary just brought me this unmarked EK2. It looks good to me, standard size, magnetic... but I'd like your opinion too. The only thing that bothers me is that the the rim halves (obverse and reverse part of the rim) are not equal on the side legs; the lower leg is perfect.

      right leg... as you can see, the reverse part of rim looks thinner than obverse. Is this a sign of fake or acceptable production mistake?

          finally, the left leg... Oh, don't bother the paper clipper I used to keep the cross in upright position

            A good original EK by Fritz Zimmermann - '6'. No need to worry about the different thicknesses of the frame halves, perfectly acceptable.

                  Can I throw in a quick question at this point.

                  I have an EK2 but two of the seams have come apart, so much so you can see the iron core. Can this happen to a real EK2 or is it a fake?

                    Nothing to worry about Nick, it happens to originals over time and I would guess it could happen to fakes as well. You generally find the seams more often come apart on EKs made by manufacturers using the 'Gablonzer' method where the frame halves are pressed together as opposed to being soldered shut.
