Your L59 is a later made cross with a solid pin anchor . The 'Cressant Moon' is a mark one finds on later made crosses . The S mark is no longer used and your cross bares the 2nd type L59 mark !
Do you have a full picture of the pin ?

Oh nice , ...
It is still a fairly early one with a easy distinquishable S&L 2nd frame and core ! A lot of wear on the dies , exspecialy the core . Surprized to see it does not have the 'S' mark . Early cross as the core is still pre plated(silvery coating) and the frame shows evidence of frosting , which has darkened a fair bit . Interesting to see another case of the core being touched up as dicused on another thread . It seams to match to the old paint as it schould .

Sorry have to say , yours is with out a dought a typical full frame dipped and burnished /polished cross , that since then has oxidize quit a bit , to the point where the luster of the frame is now gone . At the time the Rettenmaier started selling crosses hand frosting was long discontinued .
