Thank you, Robert. It's close, as you say, but I guess not the same. Both 3s are distinctive, and in almost the same way, but they're different. I'd so much like to put a makers name to this EK2.

I know what you mean Trevor,

It's good that you're looking at every possibility. Like Carl's Deschler's '9' on his horde cross. You just don't find another maker with the '9' on a base like that except on the R3's.

Interesting cross there Trevor :
The solid corner tips are easy to pick out and a type I have seen only once . Something that does stand out immediately is that the die is still very new with no wear at all ... so an early strike off that die of that maker , who ever he is . Plated core , heavy lead paint still and mid grade silver plated , polished and lacquered frame - would place timeline 40/41 . What's missing here has alot to say and may be the reason for a very short company life span .
There is no frosting , as required at the start ....! Chemical were expensive even when available . So it may have been a matter of economics that the maker gave up and sold out ! IMO who ever made the die did not finish the corner tips leaving them 'boldly bland' . The core looks familiar and have to find it yet .
Because of the earlier manufacturing elements I would guess it may have been one of these earlier unknown makers in the list : 17,38,54, 75, 79 !
