Question on EKI Screwback Case

Overall, the case looks good, but what troubles me is the black lining. It looks/feel like a thin sheet of black cloth that's wrapped around the base. It's not the typical "flocking" that's on the base of my other cases. I've attached some pictures of the case side (left) by side with my L/54 and L/11 marked cases. Anyone else see one like this that was an original?

Not really sure, in the first picture the weaving of the upper white lining matches exactly my repo DKiG case. Notice how the weaving is different and much larger than the case beside it. Have you tried black lighting the white lining?

I am far from an expert on this, but I can give it a shot.
For me this looks more like an 57 case with a new LDO mark inside, maybe I am wrong but my gut feeling tells me something is off here.
That's all I can contribute....sorry

I agree with the others, there is something wrong with your new case. Maybe it's the inside black lining or the white lining. Very hard to tell from the pictures.

I recon you knew something was wrong when holding the cases next to each other.

My feelings says that it's no good.

A question to you George, where is the mark on your L/54 and can I see it? I have the same case but mine is unmarked.

I don't have an "L54"case, but as for the cross, mine is marked in the center of the bottom arm on the reverse.

Well, I was certainly happy to see that cross again! A reminder--tis the season!

I was also happy to see the maker's mark had the regular rectanglur box and not the more common box with the downward ends. I recently picked up an EK1 w/pin with the same mark as well.

Hello, can anyone please tell me about the double screw back Iron Cross from the 1st ww. There are 2 on e-bay, are they the real thing? Are the Iron Crosses available on e-bay original?

there is nothing wrong with this type of lining. It is only much seldom seen. Also the conection white strip is oké.
