Here is a photo showing this new unmarked cross (on the right) together with my L/19, also a brass core.
The unmarked one is larger. 26mm wide arms but only 43mm across. The L/19 is 44mm across with 25mm arms.

Should I be concerned about the case construction? This piece of wood does not look very old.. . The lining material does not glow under blacklight. I would value your comments on this case...and on the cross manufacturer also pleaaaaaaaaaase

Friedrich Orth was known for his brass core crosses. I'm afraid that's just a suggestion, not an expert opinion, sorry!

                    Here's my guess -

Looking at the wide flanges, pin, hinge, and catch construction I'd guess the maker was Wachtler and Lange (L/55, or 100) although I haven't encountered a brass centered EKI from them before. Did you look under the pin for any marks? Not sure about your case, though.

                      Here's a brass centered "L55"-marked EK 1.

It's marked under the catch, instead of on the underside of the pin (which is usual for Wachtler & Lange).

Thank you all, looks like it, doesn't it? George, does the swaz sit very high on your cross?
