Depreciation if cross has been altered.

    Just for my own knowledge.
How much would a replacement pin reduce the value of an EK1, a DKiG or a Spanish Cross? If it is a period replacement?

Just curious. I am getting a Spanish Cross w/o swords in bronze. It has a replacement pin. This badge belongs to a grouping which I had the Destroyer badge. I am not planning on selling it, I just wanted a rough estimate of depreciation.

    Regards,
    JustinG

Here is a photo of the cross in question.

    Thanks for your input.

For something like this where it's the hinge pin, I wouldn't think any depreciation has taken place as everything else is original.

I personally think that if its just a piece out of the blue then yea it affects value even if the rest is legit. But together like that with the name behind it...I dont think it affected anything....a real piece of history, which is always worth big bucks

        Cheers, Les

          Justin,

I am glad to see that you are making the effort and investment to get two pieces back together that obviously belong together. Nothing pains me more than to see groupings get broken up. That will make a nice KM display - it would be really interesting if some of his documents surfaced...

          Good job

Yes, I too am looking forward to bringing these two awards together.
