Since there is much discussion of production numbers on other awards, I have been wondering in what quantities the various classes of Spanish Crosses (Gold, Silver, Bronze) were produced. I know the official award numbers, and the time frame these would have been awared. Yet, I see many Spanish Crosses for sale that were made long after 1939, with different pin set ups and L numbers, which were clearly of wartime manufacture.
Were there many more of these crosses made, over time, than were originally awarded?
