    EK1 Carton

I submit this EK1 carton of issue for reveiw with
regard to originality. The carton is not marked other
than what is shown in the photo, i.e. the carton does
    not feature a manufacturer's name.

All other cartons that I have seen do feature the
manufacturer's name. Examples that I have seen include
the following manufacturers: Rudolf Wachtler and
Lange, Klein and Quenzer, Steinhauer and Luck, etc.

All thoughts and opinions are appreciated. Thanks in
    advance.

    Tom D.

    Your carton

Hi Tom, the lack of maker's name doesn't bother me. You will find them "genericly" marked for contents, usually the cross inside will bear no maker mark, same with the case.
My initial impression from your photos is that this box is probably OK. BUT, no way for me to determine this based solely on your photos. I would need bright, clear, crisp pix of all sides and the inner flaps.
    Other guys thoughts?

UV! And, to better 'exhibit' the case take a pic in daylight.
These two tests may add some clarity!

        Hi Tom,

I don't see any reason to doubt this outer carton, from the pictures. You could always black light test it for the sake of it but I'm pretty sure this is just fine in my book.

Not all of these of course have maker marks on, perhaps a mulitude of cross makers could then use them and there are numerous if not very many differences and variation's.

K&Q for instance didn't always have there mark on outer cartons, the red/brown outer carton for the KVK dosen't have a maker mark on it and the examples I know of come with the early style box so it's possible that there's no way of telling if this early or late war because of no maker mark on it.

I've got several of these now, Junker, K&Q, S&L, Carl Wild etc and a couple of unmarked; I've also seen some pic's of one of our members outer cartons Allan whom has unmarked also.

The same goes for several of the airforce awards just issued in outer carton style boxes with the award designation on it, some are marked with the makers mark some (most) aren't.

So I would not eliminate originality ever just because there is no maker name on the outer carton, just my pennies worth.

        Kind regards,

        Marcus

Hi guys, thank you very much for the replies. Dave, thanks for the tip on the UV, I will try this when I get the carton back in my possession, as I have sent it to a fellow collector for his opinion on it as well.

          Thanks again.
