Souval EK I, but post war

Here my new EK I by Souval.
It's a three piece construction with iron core.
The front frame is to 270° rotated. The distinctive Souval flaw on frame is on left side (not on top)

    Regards

    Daniel

Really interesting Daniel. One I have not ever seen before.

Rudolf Souval certainly had a busy postwar career. So many different EKs show up with his "fingerprints" on them.

              Thanks for showing it.
              Best regards,

Thank you for sharing this. Rudolf must have given little thought that some day there would be a clan of collectors who would be specializing in his products. This is an interesting piece. I'd like to know when it was actually made. Thanks for sharing, Daniel.

                  Nice catch there Daniel :
This find is very important and helps to explane the one EK2 on the comparison chart I did resently on Souval EK2s . 1to 3 have the ring mount indicator as #4 does not !It has the same very short 'claw' configuration and same type of flaw as your EK1 . Same metal color as well . The flaws shown on the EK2s vary , they are not all the same ??? The short claw matches yours . Something tells me #4 would be a post war EK2 .......???

Hello Daniel, this is really an interesting cross.
I kind of like the Souval EK's productions and i have a few items made by the austrian maker, but i h've never seen something like that.
I can see some dark colour on the rearside & edges, Daniel is this paint or maybe some kind of silver finish? Cause i think it's not so common this kind of silver dark finish on a Souval cross, isn't it?

                    Cheers,
                    Stefano

                      I'm not sure.
Maybe it's a protection laquer which became dark.
Or Souval used material, which was very delicate.

                        Hello Douglas,

my veterans EK II by Souval (blanc core) has the same ring mount indicator.
I believe Souval produced 2 types of frames at the same time.
typ 1: without ring mount indicator => for EK I production and the backside of the EK II's
typ 2: with ring mount indicator => for the frontside of the EK II's

It's possible that a member of Souval used only typ 1 for the EK II production by mistake.

                        Regards

                          Daniel ;
If Souval used 2 dies : type 1 and 2 --- with and without ring mount indecator ... Why then do both dies have the identical same top die flaw at the same time ? Or is it a flaw at all ??

                          Douglas
