Knights Cross of the War Merit Cross - opinions

I would love some opinions on this cross.

The cross has no maker mark on it, only the 900 stamp on the ring.
Could it possibly be genuine?

I don't think its original. I have never seen sword handles like that before and the wreath area looks grainy. Not one for me.

There is something about this cross which is sort of appealing. Certainly not a match for what we have seen before, and I agree completely about the "graniness', but the sword hilts are so unique that you have to wonder why such a strange copy would be made.

looks like an odd shaped "72". For sure not "12". The "1" would look much different.

regarding the number i zoomed in a bit on the original photo and all i got was this.
Cant say its a number until i see it in RL again.

looking at the last photo I am NOT liking it.

To me it is missing the sharp definition between the pebbling and edge of the cross.

as well, the edge is appears to have pits in that would not come from normal wear

Number inward facing looks like a 20 or 23 . Very grainy indeed ... arms sides polished down , probably a cast copy of another one and modified ??
