Right, we are not at war. We´re just out there to accomplish some tasks. Officially, it´s not a war so there´s no need (no urgent need, at least) for a new CoI.

But unfortunately, our newspapers are full of left wing statements claiming "these awards are an expression of an overcome glorification of the military".

...a knight´s cross would be fine, indeed...

Kimbrian, right words we are not at war and "only" working on tasks. Oh my goodness ... Just some view weeks ago when I was back home in Germany 3 BW soldiers died in Afghanistan. The Germans are there in the same function like the US, in vessels, in planes and on the ground. For what is another task question.

Slightly misleading as this is called an Honour Cross and is not really a continuation of the series, but thought you might find this interesting.
Please take a look at my resent post.: http://dev.wehrmacht-awards.com/foru...d.php?t=340015

I think it's important to remember that the Iron Cross was never a "German" award, only Prussian. Hitler stole it in 1939 and made it a bastardized national award.

Good point! And Prussia seized to exist in 1947... and now most left-wing forces ride their backs sore on this one. "No no we can´t re-establish the Iron Cross! That´s sooo bad and sooo nazi... also, Pussia is looong gone gnagnagna" *chrrrzzz*
But still our national soccer team wears prussian colors hrhrhr.

No one ever mentioned, that Hitler stole and perverted german culture (Except you, Vince ). Most people reduce german culture or history to our well known 12 years. It´s a damn shame.

How did our politicans (it slipped me away who it was) say it, Robert? "It´s not a war, its another situation!"

My appologies for getting a little bit upset but this topic always freakens me out...

well i think Germany would need to declare war or have war declared on it by Afghanistan and then turn the country onto a war footing! i really doubt that would happen! dont forget Germany even Prussian had similar small scale wars etc where the iron cross was not re-actived! ie 1866 the boxer rebelion round 1900 and the spanish civil war!

Under the circumstances I think it looks OK, but it´s a shame they don´t dare to use the old IC with new year. IMO the Iron Cross is the nicest decoration ever!
