EKII Round Top 3

My first EKII round top 3.

How can I tell if it is the thick or thin type?

In hand it feels really heavy. It has the little raised lines that run out on each
corner of the cross. I read on the forum that this is the thin type.

If it is the thick one must be really thick as this one is not thin by any means.

From the beveled corners yours is the normal or thin one of that maker .
The thick one is realy thick , see sample below , thick frame ontop a normal EK2 .

Hello Wayne,

I don't have a link available but a couple years ago I recall reading a good thread in which 4 of the then known types (Thick, Thin, Plateau and ???)of R3 EKII were discussed with some measurements such as thickness given.

These are not something I have studied in detail so cannot add more other than to say the Plateau style has the swas sitting up very much like a mm 13 Gustav Brehmer.

I'll try to find that thread in the next few days as it would benefit me to read it again. If I do I'll add the link then. If you happen to check and find it first would you let me know please.
