    Schinkel EK2 2-place medalbar --> comments + opinions please

    Hello,

May I please have your opinions on this Medalbar with Schinkel EK2 please at the request of a potential buyer? There is a little more info in the eStand listing:

    eStand Listing

Is it possible to identify a maker for the 1 Oktober medal? These are not in my area of interest, and I don't know where to start.

I will briefly say that this is the most beautiful 1939 EK2 medalbar I have ever held. The quality and workmanship is superb in every regard.

I really appreciate your help and comments, as always!

    Thanks,
    Trevor

    Thanks!

Thank you both for the comments!

For others, this Schinkel type is discussed in a few threads. Here is one:

          Schinkel EK II rare version

I'll track down the others too.

Very nice to find any Schinkel version on a medalbar and especially that one, took me a long time just to find a unmounted one.

Very rarely they are marked on the outer rim of the medal. But I mean very rarely. Otherwise, there's basically no way to tell as far as I know.

Thanks, George, for the info. This one isn't marked then.

Thanks for the comments on the bar. It is now sold to one of our WAF EK collectors, who will, I hope, enjoy it as much as I did and maybe post some photos of his own down the line.

This one is a beauty. I have a real fondness for this particular rare Schinkel version.

By the way, there is a theory that this one is an intermediate design, discussed in the thread linked to above, but it seems clear to me that it's a standard Schinkel (which is defined by the term's originator as a 1939 series cross that was made up using leftover stocks of 1914 frames). This observation is originally Carl's (Roglebk), dicussed in post 40 here:

The Iron Cross second class 1939 than Schinkel version

Here's another thread in which a member shows one:

                Iron Cross 2 class

...and one in which we've attempted (unsuccessfully) to find a match among marked Imperial frames:

EKII help needed! 1939 Schinkel vs 1914 frame

                Thanks again,
