Really glad I checked my spelling I spelt buttonhole with an O instead of a U.
Oh yes, I missed EK2 spange on Godet&Co button at emeredato website for 45 euros. I´ve found it when it was already sold. Not all days are sunny.

      Ha ha.

By the way I don't think these mins with in-line Ösen are necessarily RKs. I think that in the very early years of the war, EK2 minis must have been made just like they were for the previous 25 years, i.e. with in-line ("RK-style") Öse attachments to hang from a button. I have no evidence for this, just a gut feeling based on my own personal observation of the pervasive and striking continuities that very obviously existed between practices and traditions pertaining to the 1914 EK on the one hand, and the very early incarnations (say, pre-1941) of the 1939 EK on the other hand. For this reason I think calling any buttonback mini EK with an in-line Öse a Knight's Cross is overly optimistic, if not necessarily wrong in every case.

I completely agreed with this statement - at least untill yesterday, when I found this thread. I remember myself saying in this forum to somebody showing his "RK mini", that if he has RK mini, then I have my collection of imperial minis full of Grand Crosses.

On the other hand, your (and my old) statement has two weak points:

a.) This is not early, but late war Godet & Co. button, as you know.

b.) Imperial EK2s are not hanging from the Godet buttons since 1930s, no matter if Godet&Sohn, or Godet&Co. In fact, I´ve never seen EK2 Imperial mini hanging under any of Godet&Co buttons. If you have some, post it here. But my reference folder - and personal collection - shows the opposite and is completely in line with statements in Döhles 1943 reprint (post No 18).

            Or these.

In fact, there is no 25 years of continuity, but at least 10 years gap between last Imperial EK2 hanging from the Godet&Sohn button and that EK/RK 1939 hanging from the Godet & Co. button.

Yours may be an RK, but I was talking about the in-line Öse on buttonback minis in general, not about yours in particular. However, J. Godet and Gebr. Godet have always made buttonbacks with dangling mini EKs with in-line Ösen.

Nice piece Gary, I would say RK, due to the double ribbons on the button.
As a final note, I would add that double ribbons have nothing to do with the class of the award as far as I know. Most companies used double ribbons for everything as a matter of style.
                Best regards,

Oh, hell, I came here to talk about my piece in particular, forgot to say that...

I agree. Godet used double ribbon when there was only one award (and ribbon type) on it.

When the owner had more awards, every ribbon was single.

They all have their charms I really like the 25 year one.Is no 2 in the Godet catalogue 'The House Order of Hohenzollern' hard to tell without colour, there seems to be a few of the old house orders in there.Would be really nice to have a Pour le merit bottomhole and certainly wouldn't mind an RK one as well, first German 'Medal' I ever bought was a buttonhole.

Beautiful repetition clasp mini you have, lordpage. I´ve never seen such crisp detail.

Here is my Godet EK avenue, from older type of Godet & Sohn button (same as Trevor´s, just smaller EK mini with one piece construction) to the newest type of Godet & Co. button. The tendency, doesn´t matter if it was rule or just fashion and style, is clearly visible.

Thanks Miro O,the mini EK2 Clasp has a thread of it's own with close up photos.

Thanks Jon for showing the thread. Details on your mini spange are unbeatable.

Here is - for comparison - the Godet spange that I missed. It has only one advantage - it is Godet.

                              Best, Miro
