EK1 C.F. Zimmermann.. Or is it Deumer

    Hello my friends.

I got my First EK1 few years ago and I wanted it to be a cased one. Back then I wasn´t wondering about who and what makers.
I got this one from Detlev + GOA that says "Typical cross by maker 20 or L/52"

A Nice C.F. Zimmermann EK1. Last one year I have been using this forum alot to study and
    get to know these awards.
I looked for Zimmermann EK1 here to compare with mine. Threds like these draw to my attention.

    2. http://dev.wehrmacht-awards.com/foru...mmerman&page=3
    3. http://dev.wehrmacht-awards.com/foru...=EK1+Zimmerman
    4. http://dev.wehrmacht-awards.com/foru...=EK1+Zimmerman

After I have saw these posts about confusing between Zimmermann and Deumer, I relised that my EK1 was not "20" or "L/52" unmarked. But I want your opinion guys because I think my EK1 is a Deumer. I have no problem having a Deumer one but right should be right

Here is some pictures from these threads. (plz send me PM if the orginal poster want me to remove them)

You guys can see what I´m pointing out. Here is my EK1 that this thread is all about. And I like to hear your opinions.
Because I think I have EK1 Deumer in my hands, not EK1 by C.F. Zimmermann

                My vote is "Deumer".

                Nice cross.

                  Absolutely a Deumer!

Are unmarked Zimmermans seen that much? Unmarked Deumers seem to be fairly easy to find.

                      Steve,

Marked Zimmermanns are very common. Unmarked...I can't remember ever seeing one to be quite honest. This cross shown is an early unmarked Deumer, my thinking is, before regulations to mark crosses came into effect.

Yea I thought so, I saw atleast that this was not Zimmermann after my inspection.

Should I send Mr Niemann a line?
"hey, I want new and right GOA with this EK1 please"?

                        Another thing .
before regulations to mark crosses came into effect
                        When was that?

And Robert you say "early Deumer", Could it be that this EK1 was awarded on early stage of the war? Let´s say from 1940 up to 1942?

When Robert says this is an early Deumer, he is basing it on the fact that it uses the early harware. Deumer used a different type of pin later. The cross is also unmarked, which is a characteristic of early war pieces.

                            Thank you Steve,

And, you're exactly right. I love the early Deumers for more reasons than one. As to the exact date of the regulation I'm not certain. Perhaps someone can help on this.

The main different is the number design. Deumer and Zimmermann/Godet used a distinctive number design.
