Oppinions needed on this EK1 and EK2

I'm green in this topic and would like to hear your oppinions about this pair. Most of all would like to know the period of manufacture. EK1 manufacturer is 55 while EK2 50. I assume they are genuine but if it is otherwise please let me know
Does the EK1's rim look as if it was cleaned?
    Thanks in advance

hi, both of this crosses are original. i think the rim wasnt cleaned you are just lucky to have this condition. as for the makers go to the wehrmacht awards main page and look under "iron cross" - you will found a list of makers with names and places where thej produced this beautifoul medals.

    hope this helped

It looks to me that the EK1 is marked L/## (I cant see the numbers in your photo) as opposed to '50'. This cross has similary hinge, pin and catch to a L/50 cross.

Check yous to see if it is a L/50.

      Regardless, nice cross.

I agree with Calvin. The EK 1 looks like an "L/50."

I can only bring up the reverse pic of the "55" EK 2, but it looks good too.

And are they early, mid, or latewar?

                Unless I'm mistaken....

                EK 1, mid-war (LDO established in mid-1941.).
EK 2, late war (P numbers used after mid-1944.).

LDO - what's that? And what are the "P" numbers?
                  best regards

Hi. Thanks alot for your help. However, from what it is written on the site, the "P" doesn't necessarily mean late war manufacture... What's the point about that? Thanks once again.

From the source I have (Gordon's EK book) it seems that awards manufacturers were instructed to use P numbers after mid-1944, so I surmise that pieces with those numbers are late war.
