And this is the answer I got from the seller:

"Sorry to upset you but no-one is forcing anyone to bid. I know little about medals but a thief I am not. The only reason I posted it is because I KNOW it was collected by my relative in Europe in 44-45. Unfortunately I do not know exactly what it was used for but the $2500 is what it was appraised for from a jewellery perspective five years ago.(diamonds, Labour and materials). I believe that if it could be 100% verified it would be priced and valued alot more."

now now, lets talk about the piece...a seller is entitled to embellish, so long as they do not deliberately defraud. I don't believe his statement actually says he knows anything about the piece other than the fact that the customer will be satisfied 100% (note he has cleverly worded it so that he didn't say 100% wartime!). He has done the right thing and listed detailed measurements and weights with lots of photos, also and we cannot prove that his uncle wasn't in the war so lets talk about the piece.

I take it then that the piece is shyte?

p.s. Ludwig, notice too that he has deliberately posted your comment up on the auction listing itself, I doubt that any faker who was deliberately trying to sell fakes deliberatley would put a comment like this to cast doubt on the item.

So why the story about Italy etc etc? No, my friend, he/she knows that this is not a wartime produced item – IMO.

there is no way anyone is going to bid on this after that comment by another ebayer.
