        sorry for the poor focus. it is a 4 with a slightly doublestruck silver mark on the right, perhaps 985, maybe 935

              I don't have Gordon Williamson's book on the War Merit cross and frankly have no experience in these RK des KvK but 2 observations stand out for me. Firstly the piece seems very thick and secondly the '4' is not like those found on original S&L marked pieces. The S&L marking '4' is fairly consistent across the board be it an EK1 or a wound badge and it's not like this one.

              I'll try to see if I can find pics of an S&L RK d KvK to compare marks. It maybe that on this award they are different.

                I couldn't find any pics of the markings for the S&L RK des KvK but looking at examples they seem to match up with yours very well. Looks like I was over-cautious with the maker mark!

                    These are extremly rare! S&L Rkkvk have thicker arms than Deschler and Zimmermann!
