1st Pattern Spange Maker's Help

I would appreciate help on the makers of these spangen.

I used to call this 'the other one', but I think we've recently made the connection to it being an unmarked Maybauer (no proof though)

Regarding the second one, how was the connection to Meybauer made?

I have one of these and have never seen one with a maker mark and am curious at the result.

no, I've never seen an mm
I think the connection is an assumption

and it goes like this: There are 4 early known styles/makers of EK clasps, no proof, but generally known as 'Intermediate', Juncker, L/57, and Maybauer. I think mainly because of comparisons to mm'd second pattern spangen of the same makers

this 'Maybauer' one has always been a little unconnected in my mind...
the EK1 early clasp know as 'Maybauer' is more likely to be true, as the hardware resembles later L/13s

I think I, and others, made the connection because of the likelyhood of the EK1 early spangen makers also being the EK2 makers. Juncker and L/57 being the obvious

I'm not 100% convinced on the EK2 Maybauer connection though, as it also has strong design similarities with the 'Intermediate' style EK1 spange, and the early EK2 'Intermediate' spangen resembles later L/13 (segmented claw) spangen

without any solid proof it's anyone's guess
this could be what's know as the 'Intermediate'
and what's known as 'Intermediate' is actually the Maybauer

Confused? Yes always!

I don't follow these that much but I do know there are L/13 marked 1st class. Are there any L/13 marked 2nd class or is the absence of these that makes one assume if there was the 1st class there must have been the 2nd class and maybe this was it?

yes, the absence forced the presumption
but there are no mm'd first patterns
and yes there are L/13 mm'd 2nd pattern 2nd + 1st class spangen
