My First "L" Maker Marked EK2

    Hello,

This is my first L/11 Maker Marked EK2. Although I have been collecting Iron Crosses a long time I am only now looking deeper into it as a collecting speciality.

In the not to recent past, I only had a couple of EK2s for examples in my WW2 German medals collection. One nice EK2 with no MM and one on a Triangle Fold ribbon and that's it!

Now I have over 40 Maker Marked EK2s. I am collecting them by MM rings. This is my first one with the "L" MM.

I am assuming these are quite rare. According to my records the "L" makers were; L/11, L/12, L/14, L/16, L/54, & L/56. Were there any others out there?

From this small list which is considered the Rarest of the "L" marked EK2s?

    Many thanks,
    Vince

The LDO marked EK2s are very hard to find. I have a decent collection of marked EK2s, yet not a single LDO marked example. probably could have had one or two over the years, but not many oppurtunities. L/11 is believe is the easiest to find. I have in my collection an L/57 marked 1914 EK2, so perhaps L/57 would be a mark that could be found on 1939 EK2s also.

              Hi Steve,
That sounds interesting. Would you please post a photo of that cross?
              Thanks,
              Vince

That would indeed be a treat Steve! Just love those 1914/1939 EKII's and a L/57 Boerger & co would be my first.
