    E. Ferd Weidmann EK2?

    Hello EK People,

This EK2 comes in a bag marked for E. Ferd Weidmann, which has a PKZ no. of 19. I can't quite say if this is correct, even having referenced some photos of marked 19s. I'm interested in your opinons:

Is this an E. Ferd Weidmann EK2?

    Thank you
    Trevor
    Best regards,

Thank you for posting that, George.

Now, this one I can tell is the same. It's interesting: it seems there is a flaw in the die in the one I posted (that is for sale), and that the flaw was rather shoddily repaired in the marked cross (assuming the marked version was a later produciton piece). I've illustrated below.

          Does this seem plausible?

          Best regards,
          Streptile

            Trevor,

Take a close look at the numbers on your cross compared to these. Look especially at the '3' in 1939 and in 1813.

Oh, I'm sorry, Trevor. I thought you owned this cross you posted. My mistake.

Here's the full view of mine to compare....

                Thanks Robert.

Now that I look closely, the date you posted has a "3" that appears more boxy. But I admit I'm still a bit unsure. Did you post a Weidmann? And is the one I posted at the top of the thread not a match?
                Best regards,
                Streptile

Thanks. No, I don't own this one. I'm half considering buying it, half just trying to train my eye to spot core characteristics and identify makers. The "3" in the reverse date (1813) is quite distinctive, but I don't have the cross in question in-hand to compare.
                  Best regards,
                  Streptile

                    Trevor,

Yes, I posted my '19' Wiedmann. Your frame is very similar. The photo is dark, and I can't make out the date on the obverse of yours. Can you obtain closer/clearer images of the dates? That would cinch it. Wiedmann's dates are very peculiar.

Yes, I will say that I arrived at my initial conclusion based on the frame alone, before looking at the core. I may ask the seller for more photos, but to tell you the truth, I'm almost more interested in holding out for a marked example.
                      Best regards,

That would be the optimum thing to do.

Here's my example for comparison which IMO is a good match to the cross that started the thread.....
