    5tefan's new entry of EK1 - for discussion ;-)

    Hello ;-)

According some advises - I like to follow some suggestions;-)
To put all my new EK1 in one thread! I hope I will get more response ;-)
If not, I will restart singel thread each EK1 maker! I think it is a good deal ;-)

On ever new EK1 I will put a item-number, to avoid a swap all items!

On every EK1 you will get my opinion - I hope that I do not prerecord every item - but this was an additional suggestion!

At first of all, my english is not perfect, but I hope you understand my statements ;-)

I wish all the best to you and I'm open for different opinions, even if I answer with my point of view!

So don't be worry it is not personal ;-) Maybe sometimes, I try only to defend the cross to turn presumptions into the reality ;-) So every opinion is welcome for discussion ;-)

    Item No. 1 - EK1 with mm "L/12"

Here is my opinion to item no. 1:
-This EK1 have an W&L frame (see typical dopple ribs)
-The pin system looks standart IMO
-The mm = I'm not 100 % sure, hope you will display some references
-The swaz was reworked - good work, but the thickness of the arms are different!

I'm looking for you discussion ;-)

          Item No. 3 - EK1 Screw Back L/56

          Hello ;-)
Here is item no. 3 an EK1 Scrwe Back with mm L/56
          Here is my opinion ;-)
          - I know that there is only four makers which put not there mm on the back of the cross ---> Deumer, Wiedmann, Souval & this Funcke & Bruenninghaus!
Two of them put the mm on the disc ;-) L/58 & L/56
          - The mm on the frame looks good to me - maby I would like to see some reference disc ;-)
          - The frame structure & number design looks OK

IMO a good Funcke & Bruenninghaus - what is your opinion?

Hello 5tefan. Nice thread. I personally like what I see here. Your new way of showing your eKs = a lot cooler. a lot

That Carl Wild cross is in sick good condition. LOVE it!
The first cross im not sure about.. W&L frame, L/12 mark, but the pin Im really not sure about.... i'll leave that 1 to the experts

The rest of the crosses seems to be 100% with a nice personal description from yourself. Cool

                        5tefan

The only maker that does not mark their crosses is Wiedmann, everyone else marks them, but not all the time. I like your crosses. Jim

The only cross I see that raises a red flag is the first, the L/12-marked cross. Has the hinge and pin been replaced? It looks like new solder around the hinge area. This may explain why it doesn't match the cross. I'd like to hear other opinions on this.

I like the other crosses as well, all very nice. I have the twin to your unmarked Juncker. And, I especially like the way you have organized them in one thread.

                            Quit interesting :
Reply more later , half to leave , ....
#2 just quickly ..>>> look closely the front --- frame or core is rotated 180 degrees . The Juncker 3 flaws are all in the wrong spot .

                              Back now ; ... had a better look .

#1 ; This EK 1 has a W&L frame and not a Juncker frame ,,. webbed corners ! As Robert pointed out a K&Q pin set with the flush side mounted down . No way knowing for certain if the pin set is original to the cross ... probably not .
As far as the L/12 mark goes it is not an original mark for now . Very tricky and need to do a lot more comparisons . From the 26 different marks found sofar 4 to 6 marks will be originals only and the rest are all post war added . Still an ongoing project .
Now in another forum your opinion was that this cross was di-nazified at some time and that the - mis-shaped - swastika is a surface attached replacement ! The solder overspill hints the frame may have been apart at one time .

#2 : Is a reworked Juncker die frame , which has been rotated 180 degrees.. all the 3 flaws are in the wrong spots . All I can say the pin set is not from Juncker or W&L . The core however is made by W&L ... the very short 1 !

#4 : This cross is a full W&L cross frame and core and pin set !!
The L 55 mark being very shallow , I am not sure to give a full thumbs up yet .

Hope this clarifies and helps ,

                              Douglas
