Dion, the small ribbon ring indicates that it was intended for medalbar use.

Very often it didn't happen.
But the most crosses I have or had with this small ring were R3's and Schinkels.
I know that you are not really into those variants and not really into medalbars!
Maybe they did it only early in the war?......just a thought!

I'm not disputing your word by any means, but all three of my Paulmann & Crone EKII's have small ribbon rings, although not as small as Dion's.

Dion, I just can't find a match.

robert, I have seen small rings on bars before, its just one of those things i never really noted to myself.
