    EK2 Maker ?

    Hi
I have questions about this iron cross.
Any idea what maker it could be ?

I'm thinking possibly the maker Grossmann & Co. ('11'). There are a few crosses with similar features, but what has me thinking Grossmann is the way the frame has been cut on the outside: the flange is narrow in some areas and wide in others, not very uniform. My two examples have the same characteristics.

You're very welcome. There's a 50% chance I've quessed correctly. We'll see what the others have to say when they awake over in the other half of the world.

That could be a very good shout Robert!
I wonder though, I'm not seeing the die flaw which seems to be present on all Grossman EK2s I've seen. I've arrowed it on my example below and it is clearly visible on mine and yours Robert. If nsdap79 could take a straight on pic of the front, it might be visible then.

I would say yes, it is quite a rare maker, you don't see many of them for sale.

                    Adrian,

I wasn't aware of this die flaw. Thanks for pointing this out! I wonder, does this flaw go all the way back to when the dies were new?
