It's the Danziger Cross 1st class, a medal only awarded 88 times, and this is from a well known photo of Reinhard Heidrich.

Thanks much....until I started collecting again, badges were not noticed when I looked at pics. It looks familiar, I scanned it from a book on the History of the Gestapo I'm reading.
