ek makers???

    ek makers???

    just a quick question ive looked through the forum and cant find any thing so im no w asking for a bit of guidence
    how come there are so many makers of the iron cross and what was the need for so many couldnt there have been just one maker to make all these peaces i do understand that some were for private purchase etc but am still a bit puzzled thanks in advance for your input cheers

    hi Becki, they awarded over 6 million iron crosses, way too many for one firm, plus i'm sure it was a good money spinner, and everybody wanted a slice of the action!! -Nigel

      Awarded over 6 mill. EK2s? that MUST be wrong. I heard 2,3 millions... but I think its impossible to know for sure...

        thats the figure i read, thats including EK1's & 2's,similar story with KVK's too!! -Nigel

          The WA Iron Cross history page has 5,000,000 second classes and 450,000 first classes being awarded. I guess the true figures will never be known but it sure was alot and there are plenty to go round for everyone!

            Hi Nigel,

            Vince here. Has anyone discovered who the maker of MM 75 1939 EK2 was yet? I just picked one up and was wondering. If anyone would know brother its you!

                just out of curiosity... but if a maker is unknown.. how can we know its not a fake? what seperates an unknown maker from a well known fake?

                    I have a mm75 I got from the recipient and have now idea wich hersteller stamped this number in his ek2.
