    Dietrich,

I respect everyone's opinion, as long as it is reasonable.
I know this is a forum to discuss, but I have learned that this member doesn't always appreciate other opinions...
I know this forum is to learn (which I also miss in this threads)
I also know this forum is for showing new items, but not for showing off.

Basically it is not important if members visit the other fora or not.

What I see here is a lot of crosses being posted, with no additional info at all.
10 crosses in a separate thread, is that ok?
It pushes other threads down very fast.
Posting like that on the E-Stand is not allowed either, for the same reason.

But apparently everybody is very happy with it, so I think it's time for me to move on.

    Good luck!

    Ben

      Ben,

of course I see your point, too!

I truly believe it is not such an important point to be truly upset about. Sure, it is not very good to have nearly one page filled by one guy. But that will pass.

Look at the whole thing like this: we here at WAF have the best forum on earth regarding the Third Reich orders and medals. We have the most traffic. We have the most nations. And it is very peaceful!

Believe me, I know some fora where nearly all 5 hours a new fight breaks out. They would be happy to have ten new threads in one week!

If 'both sides' of this valid issue take a little from each other - well, we will be even better!

i think listing in one thread is a good idea, i too use the search threads and they do pick up the key words in the threads not only the titles. Its great to see peoples collections whether new or pieces they have had for a long time, but maybe a my EK1 collection thread would be better, easier to read and enjoy too if you intend posting lots at once, Anyway too late now but maybe for next time...

Dietrich, I have tried to make my point clear to 5tefan for several weeks now.
I know I am not the only one who thinks like this.
I could also bore everyone to death posting 60 + ek's in a row, a number of these haven't been posted on WAF before, but I won't.
I like to share info and discuss, but that is not always appreciated.

It's not just about posting all these threads in a row.
It has also got to do with the fact that there is no info posted, or wrong info and assumptions.
          But hey, who cares?
          As long as it's peacefull.....

It really is fine with me.
I will refrain from posting and commenting, I will not even give my opinion on anything anymore.

          Ben

Ben, I really hope that you will rethink it.

There are not many collectors that have more knowledge on crosses than you.
It would be a very great loss. For similar reasons like what happens now, I have been gone for a while.

You know I sold 50% of my crosses collection in the last 2 years and thinking about quiting completely with the collecting of EK's!
You were the one who dragged me in again..........and now you leave?

But don't forget that a lot of newbies come with a huge "I know it all" attitude.
These people leave as fast as they came.

But you are now making it hard for me too !

Let's all take a deep breath and not let something like thread posting preferences or the practices of one member cause us so much grief. These things should certainly not be a justification for leaving the collecting field or even leaving a valuable rescource like this WONDERFUL forum.

The concensus of posters in this thread seem to feel one thread listing all the crosses OR a thread in the Collections Display section is best for the majority of forum participants. So, that should be the action taken. All will be satisfied, except maybe one. After all, the good of the many must out weigh the good of the one. Majority rule applies. This one member will still be able to display his prizes, as we all like to do and still learn and get input on his pieces. It's a win/win for all.

Ben, Luud and 5tephan are all valuable members and the forum needs such members. Let' get this worked out and all enjoy each other and the best hobby in the world on the best forum in the world.

                Luud & Mike,

thanks for the kind words, but I won't change my mind for the time being.
I KNOW there are more people that share my opinion, but no one is outing it for some reason.
                Well, so be it....

Once in a while I put a piece up for discussion, because it's rare, but most of the time I am involved in discussing pieces from other members and trying to help out.

I know this forum is a good resource for numerous collector's, and I am leaving because I am fed up with it.
I don't want to spoil the fun for other members.

There are a number of people that can always mail me, or send me a pm.

I am not leaving the hobby, just the forum, and I have no intention to sell my collection (or even a part of it) .

Sorry Luud, but at this point I chose for myself as well, but we can always discuss pieces by mail.
And you also know which forum I am on now, so feel free to drop in over there once in a while as well.

                  Ben,
I hope you reconsider and aren't turned away by differences with another member. Your knowledge and insight to the EK world is much more than many of us can hope to achieve. The help you've given me with my EK collection is something I value very much and the forum will be a poorer place without your expertise in so many areas.

Well, I voiced my opinions a few months back in a similar fashion. I have noticed that many of the threads in other forums have no replies. Likely due to the others that agree with us.

While I don't want to stop people from posting items (hell I do it), I do believe with the volume, they should be contained in a single thread for reference.

In that thread a pin marked 100 EK1 was shown .
The question posted : ' What is your opinion? '
                          My answer :
A reworked W&L frame with a 2 piece catch hook on this one , and the frame has been cleaned looking at the polish marks .
That cross has a few late production interesting progressionary features ., BUT with that insulting responce of " Bla Bla Bla ! etc ... " .... I left the thread as Hank had already stepped in !
I understand Ben perfectly , and some time back I felt like doing the same . It would be a shame if Ben left . An Knowledgable member here indeed ! I have lot of things to discuse with him yet .

                          Regards,
                          Douglas

I have missed that thread, but see that Ben cleaned up there.
I can imagine it with a reaction like that.

If you can't take any critic with a certain item, people should not post it!
Mostly members that have seen many crosses, are not the people that are easily impressed and use all thier tums and hearts...and it looks like some members only want that!

But I think it is already too late, Ben IS gone and because I know him very well for many years I can tell you that he won't be back soon.

After I came back here, I stopped with my other collecting area.
But because of situations like this, it just takes the fun out of collecting.
I need to think about it.
But I can tell you that I stopped buying EK's the last week, but these came in today again:

I think Ben is THE number one R3 lover.
But I left you a well meant message. Nice EK's
