Help with DGik please

I have just aquired what i believe too be a good cloth DKiG but i would value your opinions on this one , it is on very dark grey/blue cloth so i don't know if this is Luftwaffe or Kreigsmarine .

I have been told by someone that this DKiG has the rarer type backing , if so how many types were there & is this an earlier type ?

that is true. This is what I describe the Type 1 in my book and it is early. What's most likely meant with the backing is the cloth cover shining through the very thin paper glued on top of it.
