    EK2 opinion

    Hello everyone,
i am asking for your opinion on this EK 2 that looks smaller than standard dimensioon, i don't have precision instruments but it should be around 43 mm or something... there are no maker marks on the ring and the center part is -not- magnetic ?! I have this piece since a long time and it looks pretty aged and intersting but some details are unusual for me...
I feel a kind of lost about it anyone can give some info to identify it?
    many thanks,
    stefano

Nice early Deumer Schinkel EKII with brass core.

Just to add to Roberts comments, it is a good, original Deumer Schinkel, no problems with this example.
The Schinkel variations are smaller than a standard EK. I have two Deumer Shinkels and they measure 43.58 x 43.67 and 43.31 x 43.38 respectively.

Nothing to add on what has been said, looks good to me also
This variant with non magnetic core is harder to find than the Schinkel with magnetic core.

oh yes dimensions are about same (43.5 mm). Great news, a Schinkel... well i guess i was lucky cause i got this in a small flohmarkt in Austria quite a long time ago and really didn't paid much for... i might be wrong but even the ribbon was a kind of smaller... is this possible?

Anyway thanks guys, i mean really, you can learn a lot here and i am happy to have applied for the association membership

Almost all of my Schinkel EK2's have the smaller ribbon

Yes it is, as Luud says the Schinkel ribbons are smaller, about 25 - 27mm while the standard ribbon is 30mm.

And not to mention you could buy three "ordinary" EK´s for the price of one single Schinkel...
