This is a good possibility. Given the time frame of Schickle's "disengagement" from the medal-production process, my guess would be that the magnetic ones are wartime and the non-magnetic postwar (if in fact a distinction can be drawn).
P.S. By the way, is the core in the cross which started this thread magnetic or non-magnetic?Last edited by Leroy; 04-06-2009, 12:30 PM.

Here are some better pic's.
The working up isn't the best. Only the area's, which are good to touch with hand are good works up. You see the processing spoors on both sides of frame and over it the silver finish. The area's, which are hard to touch are bad works up. You see the processing spoors, too, but on some area's there is no silver finish and you can detect the solder between the frames. On every cross arm you can see the same features. The loop ring area is the same. Left and right of him is a good works up, but the the loop ring himself is bad works up. Maybe is the bad works up the reason or a reason for the end of Schickle. In my database I have pic's of the another Schickle version and I believe they are of the same processing quality (but I'm not sure). There are only one silver finish, no signs of different finishes.

I know...maybe a S&L loop.
I have 11 Schickle RK's in my database and ~50% of them have an untypical Schickle loop.
